Christmases for us these days (ha, ha for this year) are usually alternating between Townsville and Canberra each year with our caravan in tow visiting family. However my favourite would have to be when one year hubby and myself spent it just the two of us, sitting under our Christmas tree in our pj's, a cupppa and opening our gifts to each other - just us! It was something special.June's Jottingshttps://www.blogger.com/profile/01354737956502739472noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5356354908696449259.post-49855614247691642512020-08-23T18:43:46.116+10:002020-08-23T18:43:46.116+10:00lovely christmas block.....no on the darkside so I...lovely christmas block.....no on the darkside so I miss some things........
I do like the extras you designed too........Chookyblue......https://www.blogger.com/profile/03673183082274488600noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5356354908696449259.post-24201593442154524202020-08-20T19:56:09.300+10:002020-08-20T19:56:09.300+10:00Your Christmas block is gorgeous, Kris. My favourite memories of Christmas are when my children were little and there were end of school concerts where they sang Christmas carols and made cute ornaments - many of which I still have. Christmas Day 1974 we were in the north of Western Australia when the cyclone hit Darwin & i can clearly see my Uncle sitting there untangling fishing line he found. We didn't know until later that day about the cyclone. Until Love and Hugs Sew along I didn't even know about you !!!!
I so love all things Christmas.
We have a tradition in our house that has been passed on for generations. For the whole month of December we eat Honey Biscuits.
the one recipe makes up 20 something doz. We bake the last week in November. Who ever is around at the time of baking helps mix, then the mixture sits overnight. You set aside the next day to roll out, cut and bake the biscuits before spending another couple of days piping royal icing around the edges.
Over the years it has grown into a big event where my nieces who are all grown up with their own families make sure they visit from interstate to be part of the 'Big Bake', and to take some home with them.Marjoriehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/10946737349965428121noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5356354908696449259.post-43725185031529330862020-08-19T14:14:49.445+10:002020-08-19T14:14:49.445+10:00Beautiful Kris. It is such a special memory as we are now back in town and the families have spread and parents passed on, so such times will never be repeated.
