I've been laying low for a couple of days not because I'm hiding from KGB spies who want to torture me for information about a secret submarine base (I don't think!!!) but as a result of some weekend activities. You see, Sunday in the Meares' Madhouse was "C" Day! (insert dramatic piano chords!) And what would "C" Day be, I hear you ask ... CLEANING DAY - which in a household of untidy, disorganised slobs, has about as much impact as the historic "D" Day!! :0) Yes ... Sunday was the day and I should explain that around here, we don't "Spring Clean", we "Shovel Out Winter's Flotsam"! And, I have to tell you, it really is rather nice to be living in a house instead of the storage shed for a second-hand/junk store. (bet that gives you a mental picture!!)It's nice to walk on floors that don't have renovating grit underfoot and it's nice to be able to identify the furniture from the piles of 'stuff' that get dumped on the first flat surface that's handy - being busy, we do a lot of running in the back door, dump one lot of stuff, change clothes and eat (if we're lucky!), then grab the next lot of 'stuff' and head out again. Oh ... and we're basically lazy! :0) And because my Beloved Geek Boy has decided he wants to reclaim some of the office space, now that he doesn't have a work office to store his junk ... er ... 'stuff' ... in, the office got the cleaning treatment and I just HAD to show you my desk ...
Ta Da! There IS a surface holding the computer up after all - it hasn't been seen in the sea of papers etc for quite some time. And doesn't my desk look lovely and big when it's tidy. However, in the interests of complete disclosure, I feel I should also show you the next photo ...
Oops! Not so tidy, hey! So ... the filing system needs work, at least it's all in one much smaller area now! :0) That's the upside to Sunday's cleaning activities - the downside that's kept me quiet for a couple of days is that the copious amounts of dust bunnies we uncovered sent my asthma out of whack and I've been keeping a low profile while that settles - cos I HAVE to be in top form for this weekend!!!
You see like around 299 other ladies, I'm counting sleeps til the annual Stitchers Dream Day Out, hosted by Marion and Steph at my home-away-from-home, Quilters Angel!! Last year was the first time I've been able to attend and I had a BLAST!! Just to remind you (OK, and tease a little if you're not going to be there!!) this is a photo from last year ...
Marion and Steph put HOURS and HOURS into preparations for the day and it is just magical to walk into that marquee and see the GORGEOUS displays they put together ... not to mention the FABULOUS goody-bags that each participant gets to take home!! And this year is even more exciting for me, cos not only do I get to meet one of my fave designers in Bronwyn Hayes, my bestest-buddy-since-primary-school Lynette is coming up to play, too ...
And as if THAT wasn't fun enough ... I'll get to meet my blogging buddy Joy in person for the first time!! Oh boy! Oh boy! Oh boy!!!! Lynette, Joy and I will be there on Saturday, so if there are any other bloggers out there attending on Saturday, come and introduce yourselves - I'd love to meet you! We'll be easy to find ... we'll be the rowdy ones in the corner! Tee! Hee! Hee! And for those of you who won't be there, I promise to take lots of photos to share with you.
Hmmm ... what else has been happening ... not a lot more, actually, including not much stitching, although I did manage to make the matching pin cushion to go with my MIL's birthday bag. Here they are together ...
It's only a little project, but at least it's a finish to add to my OPAM list ... and a rather handy accessory for any stitcher - I have several and STILL don't seem to have one that will balance on the lounge chair handle! At least, that's my excuse for continuing to poke my pins and needles into the chair arm! Tee! Hee! Hee!
I think that's about it for now. Don't forget to visit my previous post and leave a comment telling me about your favourite story with fairies in it to put your name in the give away draw for one of two copies of my "Fairy Bears & Butterflies" quilt. And if you're not really a fairy person, share any book you love that has magical characters in it and that will count. And a big thank you, too, to all of you for your lovely, encouraging comments - it really lifted my spirits after my 'blue' week! Isn't it lovely to realise that we can support and encourage one another through life's ups and downs even though we live in all corners of the globe and most of us will never meet in person. Blogging ROCKS!! :0) And for now ... I'm off to make a cuppa and store up some more energy for the weekend, so til next time -
Bear Hugs!
