New Patterns = Giveaway!!

Well ... after many interruptions, many side-trackings, many bouts of procrastination and a few technical hitches, I'm very pleased to announce the launch of two new Tag Along Teddies patterns! YAY!! The crowd goes WILD!! :0) The patterns are for two of my appliqué quilt designs, the first is ...

"BUTTERFLY HUNT"

This is the quilt that was published in last December's "Homespun" magazine and I'm very happy to offer it as a pattern packet now. The second pattern to be launched is ...

"MOON DANCE"

This is the quilt I made for my nephew last month. My Mum says it's her favourite that I've designed so far ... but she may be just a LITTLE biased! Tee! Hee! Hee! The patterns will soon be uploaded to my website and Marion at my home-away-from-home has both for sale, too, along with a few of my other patterns. And if you happen to visit Marion and Steph's fabulous fabric shop, you'll be able to see "Butterfly Hunt" and "Fairy Bears & Butterflies" quilts in person ... er ... in the flesh ... er in the fabric?!?! :0)

Now, everyone knows that the launch of a new pattern ... or two!!! ... means a give away ... or two!!! :0) And this time is no different. I'm going to be giving away two copies of each of these fun quilts so that you, my blogging buddies, get to have as much fun making my designs as I did.

Here are the prize patterns, all ready to be sent out to four lucky winners! You might notice I've made the swap over to my new cover design - nice and fresh in time for spring ... which must be coming SOON!!! Right?!?!

So ... what do you have to do to be eligible for the give away??? Super simple! All you have to do is leave a comment on THIS post. There's just ONE, SMALL catch! Isn't there always?! Tee! Hee! Hee! The catch is, when you leave your comment, you have to share a story with me about one of your favourite bears. Aaaaaawwww ... see ... that wasn't REALLY so hard, was it!! :0) To give you some time to think about it, I'll leave the giveaway open through to August 31. (Australian Eastern Standard Time) It's my turn to do the OPAM end-of-month draw, so I'll do all my mailing at once - won't THAT make my post office mate Raymond happy! :0)

Put your thinking caps on to come up with bear stories to share and I'll look forward to reading them. In the meantime ... I think I've earned a cuppa, so I'm off to put the kettle on! :0) Hope you're having a fabulous week so far and managing to find some time to be creative. Til next time ...

BEAR HUGS!
CHEERS!

Hi Kris, gorgeous patterns. Love to win one. My favourite bear was when i was a tiny child. Poor thing. He was honey coloured & i had a fascination for pulling his fur off & rolling into balls. Just a kid thing i guess as none of my bears since then have been subjected to such treatment. Hugs, Jeanette

I think my favourite bear would be the one that still perches on my bedroom shelf...my black and white Pandy bear! He accompanied me throughout my childhood woes and plays and will be with me till both of us are rags.

Hi Kris, loooove the patterns! My very first teddybear was yellow, and I loved him so much that his head fell off (!!). My grandpa tried to sew the head on, with blue yarn. Needless to say, the result was not the best, and my teddy lived on with a "wobly" head. Not that this affected my love for him in any way :) I hope you pick me!!

Those patterns are great! My favourite bear is not actually mine. My sister-in-law brought it to the hospital when I had my daughter. They were the same size. It still sits on her bed, but at eleven, she is much bigger now.

Oh I love both patterns and could make a lovely quilt for my Great Grandie arriving in Nov.

My favorite and only "BEAR"is 57 yrs old and very bold.He still sits on my dressing table. My Dad gave him to me for my 6th BD. As we were coming over to Australia on the ship my Dad promised he would get me a Koala Bear. Little did he know that you could not just own one also they are NOT bears.

I love both, well all really, of your patterns so here's a "Bear" story. My late husband, Larry, was my Teddy Bear and collected a few "Bears and bear things" along the way. He had a small collection of Boyd's Bears which I have sitting on a shelf in the living room. Once or twice a year I take them down and run them through the dryer with a damp towel to dust them. One year he caught me at it, grabbed up his little bear with the green corduroy overalls and said "You've killed him! No wait his arm is broken! Quick he needs a sling!" Out comes a rag which torn was made into a sling. That little bear wasn't hurt but I've never taken off the sling. Guess he would be my favorite since I don't have T.B.

HOW ON EARTH DID I MISS THE BUTTERFLY QUILT???.....I ABSOLUTELY LOVE butterflies and my house is decorated with nearly as many butterflies as I have angels and fairies. Your quilt is oh SO gorgeous!!!! If I don't win
(please angels help me win;)...pleeeeeeeease) I need to buy that pattern...*drool*
Ok a teddy story hmmmmmmm alright got one. My mum loves op shopping...as do I ...and often gets treasures for the kids. They are always cute or some lovely clothes for them but this one day she brings in a scruffy gold teddy
with a floppy neck that is the ugliest bear I had ever seen. I'm thinking 'what is she thinking?' but didn't want to hurt her feelings so said nothing about it but mentally thinking 'I really have to make that thing disappear'
So I put it into a bag to give back to the op shop and find it later that night in bed with Ethan! I figured he'd forget about him after a few days so decided I'd get rid of it when he was at kinder and put it aside again only to find it later in his room again! ARGHHH! He even started taking it to kinder in his backpack and gave him a name! Kevin wouldn't let me get rid of him then so I just had to get used to the fact that "Hedwig" the ugly gold bear was staying with us till Ethan grew out of him then I could make him disappear.....BUT even though Ethan did eventually grow out of him Cade fell in love with him. Hedwig takes trips to town with us, and gets stuffed into the nappy bag and has even been fed breakfast and had a few spins in the washing machine. So I had to resign myself to the fact that he'd be sticking around a bit longer...and just recently little Miss Danae has been found cuddling him and ahhing over him! This ugly golden unwanted bear sent to the op shop is set to be an heirloom teddy in our household! The grandkids will be feeding him soggy weetbix before I know it. I'm stuck with him for life now....
but as he has given the kids so much pleasure and love I've kind of overlooked his ugliness now and he's safe here as part of our family. I wont be trying to get rid of him again...somehow I think he'd make it back even if I did.

My favorite bear story is: A few years ago at our town yard sale I told my hubby no more stuffed animals. I went home and left him shopping because of the high heat. He walked in later with 2 K-Mart 1991 Christmas bears with all the tags still on them. I gave him a look and said what did I tell you. He replied they only cost 50 cents for both of them. How could I be mad at him for that.

Love your new patterns....how could I not, Teddies and butterflies!!!!!
When I was very little, I was given a lovely brown teddy, that had a musicbox that wound up with a key on his back. I slept and loved my teddy for many years when the musicbox stopped playing. ( tears** ).
My mom found a new musicbox and carefully performed surgery on Teddy. ( hugs and kisses for mom!!! ).
Many years later.....many, many years.....my mom was suffering with Alzheimers Disease. I took my Teddy to her and she seemed to recognize that well loved Teddy....or at least she or that Teddy knew that they needed to be hugged and loved. Teddy stayed with mom until she passed away.
That dear old Teddy has been hugged so many times and his wonderful music has played so much over the last 60 years.....and he hasn't been retired yet.
My grandchildren love to sleep with my Teddy at night or for naps....he is still on duty giving hugs and playing his music and helping make sad hearts smile.
Sorry that this is a little long but Teddy is very special.
Hugs, B

I hope I win! My favourite Bear is of course Winnie the Pooh. The first time ever, I attended a Theatre, was in school, when I was 7 or 8 years old. It was a wonderful experience, and I remember my self standing up and yell out loud -There he is! to Ior, who was looking for Pooh. He had disappeared, Ior thought.
I will never forget it, it´s a very strong memory. And after the show, my mother waited outside with my little brother.
Congrat´s to your release!

Kris, I adore the new patterns! You are so talented. Congrats on your pattern being in the magazine.

As far as bears go I come by my love of bears through my mom she has a collection and so do I, I still have the bear I got when I was a very small child. It is missing an eye and his fur is rubbed smooth but I love him, I slept with him until I was probably 18.

I hope your patterns fly (get it butterfly's fly hee hee) off the shelves.
HUGS, Carin

My favorite bears sit on a little pink rocking chair that belonged to my children. My most favorite is Teddy I received him when I was 5 and love him as much as a member of my family and yes my family knows this.

Beautiful patterns! Wouldn't I love to have one!
My favourite bear is actually a big koala my dad brought back from Australia (he was in the merchant navy). It is made of kangaroo fur and has a baby on it's back. It has lost a claw and some fur off the ears from all the cuddles with me, my children, my grandchildren ... and me again ...

I have a very special bear, Teddy, I got him as a gift from my parents when I was 1 years old and I STILL have him with me. Teddy is 45 years young and in excellent condition. I don't sleep with him or take him on trips but that's okay with him!!

Love the patterns you have designed!
My bear story; My bear "Bamse" is still with me, after some 50+ years. When my parents were busy on the farm and I was hungry, I used to find something to eat - together with "Bamse" and out dog at that time; Tass. Of course I had to share the food with both of them, so it always ended up I ate half of what I should have been eating! :) I always told mum and dad I had to share it with Bamse and Tass - my best friends at that time. :) I used to carry Bamse in either the ears or the nose. Today poor Bamse's nose is very thin and he has lost part of his eyes... (I'll have to do something about that!), but he is still with me. :)

May i first of all ask, what is the font you are using on your blog? i love it.
my favorite bear was this old thing i inherited from an older cousin, had only one eye but wat i loved most about him was that he was soft, softest body ever. but alas! i no longer have him. he was my close companion on those nights when you are sure monsters are about to jump on you from the closet.

This is a sad bear tale....one of my favorite bears was a tiny bear that I bought at the Teddy Bear Museum in Stratford-Upon-Avon, England. He was by an artist from Germany, handmade and about 3" tall. He was also quite expensive but I had money that was going to be used for a special souvenier and I convinced my husband that this was it. After that, I often took the bear along in my pocket on other trips. I never lost him but then my husband had a business trip to Turkey and I decided perhaps I should not take the chance of losing the little bear so I tucked him on the shelf and left him home. Our son was housesitting while we were away and his girlfriend came over with her little sister. The little sister pocketed my tiny bear. A week after we returned my son and his girlfriend broke up. I never got the bear back. Like I said....sad bear tale. But......on a happy note, I have about 100 bear friends that are still with me. I used to have twice that many, but when I hosted an annual teddy bear picnic at the library with my grandson, I'd give away a few each year. Bears make good friends. They listen well and never talk back. :-)

P.S. I love the new patterns. There are butterflies in abundance here in Minnesota right now. My dog loves to "dance" along the yard chasing them. LOL!

Hi Kris!
Sorry, I'm a bit late...but CoNgRaTs on the release of your latest patterns. Did you throw a pattern release party...for your alien veggies and the guys in your life? ;o)
I already said it when 'butterfly hunt' was published that I just LOVE your use of rick rack...soooo yummy a quilt!
And "moon dance" is soooo cute! I'm sure your nephew will sleep under this quilt heavenly...
I didn't have a favourite bear toy in my past (I'm a dog girl...from the very first minute I arrived here on earth)...but I recently visited friends of my parents...he is an absolute bear lover and even has a separate couch for his cuddly bear Ekki (pronounced Acke...I think...I'm not sure about the "correct" English pronounciation counterpart...). He recently got his 65-year-old bear Klaus back - he found it in his late mother's appartment. Klaus' glass eyes were removed by her and lovingly stitched over so that the friend wouldn't hurt himself when he was a baby...he (the bear) is in a bad condition & nearly falls apart but yet he sits on the friend's nightstand and watches over him...
Hugs, Julia

Love those quilts, Kris! We have a bear in our livingroom that wears a jogging suit with a pocket. One day about a year after the Easter that one of the dyed-eggs went missing, we had a little guest who put her hand in the pocket and said, "What is this?" You guessed it: the egg! It survived quite a while longer until one day it BLEW UP, right on the kitchen counter. Crazy, eh?

Thank you for the wonderful give away!! I love that butterfly quilt! :)

I have a little bear (maybe 4 inches tall) that fits in the palm of my hand. He has been riding in my car with me, on my dashboard since 1979 or so.

My husband (now ex) got him for me shortly after we were married, for no reason at all... and I put him in my car so I could have him with me.
With each new vehicle he moves with me, and is out there right now (albeit a bit dusty)

I never gave him a name, and I have been divorced 7 years, but I smile when I see him just the same.

Hey Kris, I adore your new pattern layout, they are fantastic! Spring has got to be here sooooon! It's been cold and windy at the bottom of the hill this week. My favourite bear? The one Miss Ten gave me to cuddle when I had pneumonia a couple of years ago. She tucked it into bed with me and brown bear kept me feeling happy and safe when I thought I would never breathe again *smile*. Brown bear is still on my bed two years later *smile*.

Hello Kris,

Congratulaltions on your new pattersn. Yes roll on Spring. Myfavourite Teddy was a big blue cordaroy teddy I had as a child. I still remember the day I left it on the lawn. The next day I found it and the dog had given it a good chew. I was so sad.
I will tell you another one, one of my children had a yellow ted, similar to the playschool guy. Ted was getting a bit flat in the tummy so I got a friend who makes teddies to re-stuff him. You know Bonnie would not play with him because he was different. I guess the moto is not to tamper with teddies.
Happy days.
