Seriously Twisted!!

No, no, no!!! Not me! Hmmm ... well ... actually ... now that I consider that, there HAVE been people who've said I'm a bit twisted. Must be my warped sense of humour! :0) However ... in THIS case, I'm talking about my vege patch.

I've already told you that my triffod snowpeas are plotting to take over the world, right?! Well, the other day when I popped out to pick some more snowpeas for our dinner (Yum! Yum!!) I decided it was time to deal with the mutant alien carrots. They're not really getting any bigger and so I thought taking them out would give the garden a little rest before I plant some spring veges in a month or so. (Have to wait until I'm sure there will be NO more chance of frost after the bean and marigold disaster!) I know it's usually Dr Who that's called on to deal with troublesome aliens taking up residence on earth, but since he didn't answer my summons, I had to deal with them myself. So, appropriately armed (does a colander count as being armed?!?!) I ventured forth to do battle with the vege-patch aliens. (Insert Dramatic Music Here!) Tee! Hee! Hee!

After a half hour or so of wrestling with the triffods and uprooting the aliens ... and being interrupted several times by Brainless-But-Loveable Border Collie Wombat wanting me to throw the tennis ball (Dr Who never has to deal with this problem!!!) ... this was the aftermath ...

The snoweas wrested from the triffods are lovely and crunchy, but under their innocent camouflage lurks ...

... Some seriously TWISTED mutant alien carrots!!! Don't know how well you can see in the photo, but the two on the left are single carrots that have just mutated and grown tentacles, but the other three bunches are multiple carrots that have grown twisted around each other! The one second from the right looks like it has indeed grown tentacles and is now trying to strangle it's Siamese twins! Who said gardening was boring! Tee! Hee! Hee!

Overcast showery day here today and I can't do the regularly-scheduled washing, so I'm off to make myself some lavender tea and will be curling up in front of a DVD or two with some Gardener's Journal stitching. (Nothing in this quilt about mutant veges!!) Hope you're having a great Friday and that your day is free of invading aliens! May the force be with you! :0) Til next time ...

BEAR HUGS!

CHEERS!

Was a good laugh to read your post Kris.
I think you need to plant the carrots out or something so they don't turn into aliens. LOL
Hope it was a good DVD.
Have a great weekend.

Well, Dr Who did have to deal with K9! Your carrots don't look as if they're going to be all that easy to prepare. I think they look as if they needed to be thinned out a little as they grew, and perhaps needed more water. Best of luck with the next crop.

I love your carrots! I had a veggie patch some years ago and we had some great cabbages growing... until I woke up one morning hearing sheep bells!

Those are some seriously perverted carrots, Kris! lol Carrots are really hard to grow; I think the soil has to be incredibly loose or something. Any tiny little impediment and they grow into homocidal siamese twins instead of lovely carrot daggers.

Poor Wombat, her character is always being maligned on your blog. lol I saw some seriously well-trained border collies last weekend. We went to the US Dog Agility Association trials in Fort Worth. The border collies ruled! The shelties were lightning fast, but were more enthusiastic than perfect. lol I posted some pictures on my blog and made a slideshow of the best of the rest. I was always lucky to get my dogs to pee outdoors; I can't imagine the dedication it takes to get them to run an obstacle course in record time.

All the best,
Susan

OK I've calmed down now, the giggle have stopped and there is just a little snigger every now and then. Somewhere in the deep recesses of my brain I'm able to identify that something needs fertiliser and something needs therapy - I think I'll leave it up to you to work out which is which, tee hee

Where is the gorgeous David Tennant when you need him...oh yeah, he regenerated into Matt Smith...those carrots look like they tried to do the same and didn't quite make it...seriously funny...

teeheeehee...are you sure you didn't accidentally planted "pinky and the pea" instead of snowpeas? (maybe you know the mice-cartoon "pinky and the brain"...brain always wanted to take over the world and inevitably failed each episode...thinking of it, he actually bore a resemblance to your twisted mutant alien carrots *lol*.
Okay, be serious: what did you DO in your garden!!!???? ;o)
Have a lovely weekend with lots of stitching!

I have to ask - did you peel them!??? ;-)

I must say they are rather alien looking aren't they. At least they grew, I never get stuff to even get that far lol!

Most interesting carrots, Kris! How did you peel them? I am fascinated that you can grow anything in your winter season; your climate must be quite moderate?

hahahaha
Who wants boring old regular carrots when you can have seriously twisted ones instead?
If you want the boring type you have to plant them a bit further apart.
Yours would look at home with Audrey on her home planet from Little shop of Horrors :)
