Second Birthday!!

Here I am ... haven't disappeared off the face of the earth, it just seems that my WEEK has disappeared! :0) Do you find that with short weeks?? I have spent the last couple of days back at work, but struggling to keep my days straight ... I already have a problem with losing hours out of my days ... I don't need any help! Tee! Hee! Hee!

Did you have a restful/enjoyable Easter break? Ours was busy-busy, but good. As advertised, Mum, Dad and Tiffy came for an Easter visit (yes, between us GB and I managed to tidy the house after our renovating efforts!!) and that meant a MAJOR shopping expedition on the Saturday, followed by a couple of quieter kick-back-and-relax type days, which was nice. One member of the family, though, found it a little hard to completely relax ... Mum's rather indulged long-haired Chihuahua Sunny was just a little concerned that his mama might leave without him, so his solution ...

... to pack himself into her bag so he couldn't be left behind! Tee! Hee! Hee! Several times throughout the weekend, he would disappear and be found curled up here. Crazy dog!! :0)

Now ... to the post heading. In the last week I've really felt VERY spoilt and feel like I've had a second birthday ... without having to turn ANOTHER year older! :0) To start the second birthday ball rolling, Mum and Dad took me shopping for my birthday giftie, this being the first chance for us to catch up since March 20. We hit Office Works ... I know ... an odd place to shop for birthday gifts UNLESS ...

... the birthday gift is a new chair for my face-lifted sewing room ... which is was! Tee! Hee! Hee! This chair is SOOOOOOOOO comfy!! It gives me heaps more back support when I'm sewing, compared to my old, creaky, groany chair and the fresh white blends nicely with the new decor. You'll see that Nara is testing it out for me. :0)

Then ... my postie delivered a parcel from my gorgeous OPAM partner-in-crime, Peg ... OOOOOHHH!! How exciting!! Inside the box I found ...

... pretty stripy paper tied with a bow. And inside that ...

OOOOOOHHHH!! Sweet treats of ALL kinds!! A GORGEOUS stitchery that I had admired on Peg's blog ... who knew it would come to live in my sewing room!! A pretty green Depression Glass sandwich plate to add to my collection ... Peg also collects Depression Glass, so she knows how addictive it can be! Tee! Hee! Hee! Two cheerfully bright tea-towels with sweet cupcakes on them ... that will make wiping the dishes a 'treat'! :0) And lastly .... mmmmmmm .... Eclairs! Love the chewy caramel. THANK YOU PEG!! What a sweetie you are to spoil me with so many pretties!! :0)

Then, just when I was thinking that was all the spoiling my postie was prepared to deliver, I came home to another exciting parcel today ... from my clever-clogs blogging buddy, the lovely Kerryanne. Ooohh!! Happy Dance!!! Oops! Neighbours calling the RSPTDE (the Royal Society for the Protection of Tap Dancing Elephants!) to make a complaint!! :0) Searching through the packaging I found ...

... a brown paper package all tied up with ... er ... calico! :0) And look at the fabulous card ... that's already been added to my inspiration board that I'm busily revamping. After peeling off the brown paper, I found ...

... MORE packaging!! Oops! Did I say 'peeling' off the paper, perhaps I should have said 'frenzied tearing'!! :0) BLUSH!! Kerryanne was obviously wanting to keep me in suspenders ... she knows I was one of those children who shook and poked her gifts under the Christmas tree to guess what they were! Tee! Hee! Hee! More frenzied unwrapping and I found ...

... special hand made gifties that were WELL worth the suspense! :0) A French inspired chalkboard that not only looks fabulous but will help me write myself notes to jog my memory, an inspiration word ... "DREAM" ... complete with pretty bead and sewing machine charm ... perfect for inspiring me in my sewing room! :0) And last but DEFINITELY not least, three FABULOUS containers to help me organise my sewing desk. I LOVE the vintage images that Kerryanne has used on these ... and you can see that little hint of French yumminess creeping in there again too ... Kerryanne DEFINITELY knows my tastes! THANK YOU SOOOOOOOO MUCH KERRYANNE!!! :0) Oh, I really am feeling very spoilt with my second birthday ... it would almost be worth it if I DID have to add another year to the tally! Tee! Hee! Hee!

So ... that's what's been happening at the Meares' Madhouse this week and the fun isn't over yet, cos my Beloved Geek Boy (who is still on holidays from work) and I are heading off for a drive tomorrow to meet up with the Lovely Lilly Linda and her beloved Tim for a play date at Mt Tambourine ... YAY!! Linda has a stall at the exciting Mothers' Day Craft Extravaganza, which is run by the same people who organised the Christmas Extravaganza we popped up to enjoy last year ... though we're REALLY hoping that the weather plays a bit nicer this time and we actually get to SEE the advertised spectacular views Mt Tambourine has to offer ... rather than the fog, rain and gale force winds we experienced last time ... fingers crossed! :0)

And if we're hitting the road in the morning, I'd better go and hit my pillow now, so I shall sign off. OPAM gals ... the end of another month has snuck around while we weren't looking, so if you can please make sure you update your list of finishes on your sidebar with April's finishes and email Peg or me, that would be fabulous. With all the interruptions and another long weekend here in Queensland for Labour Day on Monday, it may take Peg and I a few extra days to do our blog hop and tally, but I promise we won't keep you in suspenders for TOO long before we announce the draw winners for April. In the meantime, I hope you all have a wonderful weekend full of family, friends, fun, frivolity and FABRIC!!! :0) Til next time ...

BEAR HUGS!

CHEERS!

Birthdays shouldn't be for just one day Kris. See how nice it is to stretch them out a bit. lol
I love the chair your parents got you for the sewing room. Now all you need is a few extra days in the week and you'll be stitching away happily.
Hope you all have a great time up at Mt Tambourine.

I love your gifties, especially the new chair. A good chair is SO important. That was my biggest purchase at Houston last year and I just love it!

All the best,

Boy, you make me tired just reading about all that you've been up to. It's lovely that you birthday has been celebrated over a longer period, as you can enjoy each part (and present) individually. Enjoy your visit to the markets.
