So ... We stayed overnight at Gilgandra, NSW, where it so happens a lovely friend from high school days lives. 😁 Between us having to get back on the road & my friend heading off to a wonderful-sounding ladies day, we only had a small window of time to catch up, but ...
... Catch up, we did! 😁Here's yours truly & Miss Maree. We look pretty good for first thing in the morning, don't you think?! Tee! Hee! Hee! And then it was back on the road. We passed through the outskirts of Dubbo, where the cedar trees were flowering rather spectacularly.
I'm not sure the picture really shows it off to its best, but it was lovely to see. And then we headed west, passing through ...
... Condobolin. We stopped for fuel & a comfort stop before continuing through town, where we came upon an intriguing sign ...
Hmmm ... One wondered what the touted utes were DOING in the paddock?? It turned out that Condobolin locals have made use of broken down utility vehicles as ARTWORK. Here are a few that caught my eye ...
A rusty Holden kangaroo ... How much more Aussie can you get? 😜
Speaking of all things Aussie ...
A stockman decked out in his Driza-bone oilskin jacket.
And taking a little drink home. There were quite a few more ... Worth taking a peek if you find yourself heading west. 😁 Back on the road, we headed to Lake Cargelligo and there actually IS a lake, despite the drought ...
We could see that there is usually a lot more water in the lake, but it was a nice spot for lunch in the park.
Always interesting to find out about the sights along the way. It was after leaving the lake that the rolling miles of nothing-to-see-here kicked in, broken only when we got to ...
... Our second border crossing. We're in Victoria staying the night at Swan Hill. I think we'll sleep well after our second big driving day ... Not to mention trying to get our body clocks wrapped around daylight savings! 🙄
And that's the latest update on our road trip. Tomorrow sees us head further south, then west to cross another state border. What adventures will we find along the way? Stay tuned! 😁 Til next time ...

Nice to have been able to catch up with you school friend even for a short time. You do both look lovely in your morning photo.
It's surprising what some arty folk can do with some old Utes ..look great..
Safe and happy travels..
Boy, you have been doing some miles. Love the utes at Condo. I spent many Easter holidays at Lake Cargelligo (at Aunty Rose’s sisters) and in the early 80s drought actually walked across it. I’m glad there is water this time. Enjoy your travels. I wonder where you are off to next?
