Well, here I am, back in the firm, choking, freezing grip of winter in Toowoomba, but for two whole, blissful days ... I WAS WARM!!! SIGH! As intended, we headed for the beach at Burrum Heads (north of Hervey Bay) on Friday night after my beloved Geek Boy finished work. Mum and Dad had rented a house for a week and offered us the spare room for the weekend. Here's our little beach house ...
It's right on the river and we saw it during our daily walks when we last holidayed at Burrum Heads. We said at the time it would be our pick to come back to and Mum was happily able to bag it for the week. (It's for sale and we tried really hard to work out a way we could all put in to buy it, but the budgets all screamed!! DRAT!!) Here's the view from the back verandah ...
The only drawback was ... Dad and GB didn't really get much exercise walking to their fishing spot!! Tee! Hee! Hee! And Saturday was a perfect SPRING day for us, which sent GB off a-fishin'!
You can see the walking path in front of GB - the gate to our yard was about a metre from this path and the house back another metre or two - we could throw stones into the water from the verandah - but we didn't, cos that would be irresponsible! Tee! Hee! Hee! Dad also joined the fishing experience, he just took a little longer to get organised ...
Can you see the intense concentration involved in attaching sinkers to the line? "Hmmm ... the bunny runs around the tree and into the hole ..." Tee! Hee! Hee! And while the menfolk were gainfully (not sure that actually applies since neither of them caught a fish!!) occupied, Mum and I sat on the back verandah with cups of tea and basked in the sun. Sheer bliss!! I even had bare feet without my toes turning blue and wore just a 3/4 sleeve shirt and 3/4 length jeans - no thermals (not that I do usually, though GB does!!) no jumpers, no layers!! Mum thought I was a little odd (OK, so she could be right!!) as every few minutes I would sigh blissfully and tell her, "It's so good to be WARM!!!)
And really, that set the pattern for the weekend! We did very little but relax and soak up the sun. We did manage to take a long walk on the beach on Saturday morning, but then took the afternoon to snooze, soak up some more sun and read some of that pile of books I posted about previously. The only downside (and it wasn't down too low!) was that I was subjected to the Olympics, as Mum wanted to watch the swimming. And the boys? See for yourself how THEY spent Saturday night ...
Awww ... aren't they CUTE?!?! Tee! Hee! Hee! Even Lilly was worn out from all the fun on the beach.
Sunday dawned just as bright and warm, so after we'd packed up and vacated the house by the appointed time, we headed for the beach, where Wombat and Lilly had a BLAST!!
Here's Wombat convincing Mum to throw the ball ...
Here's Lilly watching while Wombat gets GB to throw the ball ...
And here's Wombat trying to convince ME to throw the ball!! He's just like the energiser bunny when it comes to chasing that tennis ball! And can you see his face? It's covered in half the beach from the big skidding slides he was executing to catch the ball and bring it back. Meanwhile, other canines were over the whole 'dog chasing ball' routine ...
Mum's dog, Sunny, and Lilly decided to get comfy under the trees and GB was a handy human-bean-bag!
We had a very tasty picnic under the trees - after convincing Wombat that we really had lost the ball!! Before we said our goodbyes and headed home. Here's my parents and Sunny, looking all beachy ...
While a few more days would've really been blissful, we thoroughly enjoyed our little warm break away, so big thanks to all of you who wished us safe travel and warm weather - both wishes worked! Tee! Hee! Hee! And then of course, reality intruded when we got home to a very cool evening and it's been pretty cold since!! Still, we're planning a two week beach break at the end of September when Scott has a few weeks off work, so this weekend will hold us til then - a bit like a carrot dangling keeps the ol' donkey plodding along! :0)
Now, I also received a lovely, blush-worthy award from the Queen of Fairy Glitter, but I've waffled on so much about being WARM for the weekend, that I shall post about it next time. So until then, may your hot chocolate be full of marshmallows and your Kit Kat not melt on your fingers!! Bear Hugs!
CHEERS!

P.S. The first Stitchers Angel Swap pattern is on Helen's blog, so click on the Angel logo to take advantage of it - not only is it handy, it's pretty!!! BH! KRIS

What a great weekend you had. I hope you soaked up enough warmth to get you through this week.
Bek
Aawwww....wish I had of been there too. Imagine the fun and mischief we could have got up to And to think you were warm and basking in the sun while I was slowly turning blue. At least now I have a beautiful Mermaid blue scarf (that some beautiful person knitted for me), to keep me warm.
Thanks sweets,
Hugs and jugs,
Kerryanne
Am quite envious!!! You've just spent the weekend in one of my fave places on the planet!!! I just love Burrum Heads, it's so peaceful :o)!! Glad you had fun!
Cheers,
Joy :o)
"The bunny runs around the tree and into the hole......" Goodness, Kris - you've brought back some fishing memories!!! And we used to make our own sinkers back then!!!
The house looks heavenly - David would be trying to work out ways of selling up and moving - can you imagine being creative in that environment!!! Bliss!!!! (But, on second thoughts, there would possibly be more gazing at the view than productive designing!!!
We can only dream........

Kris, I don't hate u, but I'm feeling pretty darn jealous and I might just blow a raspberry at u! Unfair! I want a beach break too!
